Summer Housing is incredibly proud of our achievements and to publish our annual report for 2020/2021. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through our journey over the past year!
It has been a landmark year for Summer Housing together with our partners, stakeholders and supporters as we reached our initial goal to commission 300 dwellings for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) dwellings. Importantly, we have achieved this milestone two years ahead of target, delivering much needed housing for younger people living in or at risk of admission to residential aged care.
It has been a productive year for Summer Housing; rapidly expanding our future housing pipeline across Australia, growing our team, contributing to policy development and, most importantly, successfully delivering new homes for younger people with disability.
It has been a pivotal first year for Summer Housing. Our first annual report explores the significant inroads made towards achieving our goal of commissioning at least 300 additional SDA dwellings for younger people living in or at risk of entry to residential aged care, and the exciting journey that lies ahead.
Designing for Inclusion and Independence – An Explanatory Guide to support the Briefing and Design of Accessible Housing is Summer Housing’s first publication.
Based on learnings from the innovative housing and support projects in Abbotsford, Victoria, and the Hunter region of NSW, this report demonstrates new and more inclusive housing options for people with disability.
This report considers the need for an appropriate design framework to assist the housing sector in delivering suitable housing for people with disability.
